What is Nitro?

Nitro is an abbreviation for nitro-methane fuel. This mix of methyl alcohol, nitro-methane and lubricators is the energy source for "glow-fuel engines "commonly encountered in r/c boats, model airplanes, radio controlled helicopters and radio control cars.

1: selecting a Circuit, Model, Scale and Degree

First of all,we need to clarify the terms :"Circuit", "model", "scale" and "degree"

Circuit:This equals plainly the selection between driving cross-country or on-road. Stadium RC trucks, RC buggies and RC rally cars are configured to be driven, in off-road (usually compacted clay, sand) cart tracks with hills and bumps for leaping out. On-Road normally include pan cars, sedans, dragsters, open-wheel sprints. These types are suitable to run on carpeted indoor tracks or paved outside tracks without hills or bumps. Folks who have some experience and want to compete against other rc fans in an organised circuit, should preferably buy a "team" vehicle (RC racing car). If you want to fool around in the neighborhood just for fun, a less-expensive rc model might just do fine.

This obviously leads to the next burning question: How much costs a nitro r/c car? Or perhaps even better "How much do you want to spend?"

An entry-level RC model costs around 150.00 euro; including a radio.For the high-end top models you can end up spending more than 1500 euro including a kit, radio, servo and engine. If you just start r/c racing we advise to stick to an affordable RC model. Once you have mastered the driving skills and modification-repair know how to handle a higher-performance RC machine in the right way, you might want to consider the purchase of a more competitive radio controlled car. These high-performance vehicles go faster and therefore crash harder. You might encounter more damage on a higher-end model than on a lower-end model (in euros-to-repair). If you really want to drive in the RC competition you should consider the investment in a kit or an RTR with higher quality parts.

2: RTR or kit

While starting of your RC hobby with an RTR(ready to run) RC car, is advisable, you might want to seriously consider the step towards an RC kit once you get the hang of it. Besides the sense of pride for building your own RC vehicle, it also provides you with the specific knowledge of how to trouble shoot and repair. This is a cardinal aspect of the r/c hobby. In the long run, investing in the more decent kits will save you money.
